Abstract

Abstract: The Mina Cuero vs. Ecuador case, resolved by the Inter-American Court of Human Rights, is studied in this research work. The main objective of the study is to analyze the judgment in relation to Sustainable Development Goal number 16, which seeks to promote peaceful and inclusive societies, guarantee access to justice, and build effective and accountable institutions. Chapter one reviews the existing literature on the importance of the SDGs, particularly SDG 16, and consults doctrinal and legal references on the rights protected by this goal, a study of the judgment is conducted, reviewing the background of the case. Chapter two details the objectives, hypothesis, and methodology used in the research. Research techniques such as indexing and study of the judgment. Chapter three presents the results obtained, including an informative sheet on the case and an analysis of the same. A link is also made between the subject, SDG 16, and the selected judgment. Finally, chapter four discusses the trends, innovations, and perspectives of the subject in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic and SDG 16 are analyzed, and personal perceptions about the effects of the judgment in Ecuador and the region are shared.
