Abstract

Abstract: Democracy in Ecuador re-emerged in 1978, after the last military dictatorship, however, freedom of expression has existed even before the founding of Ecuador as a republic. This thesis will study the contrast of freedom of expression in Ecuador, that is, in which governments and in which constitutions the guarantees have been given to establish a perishable freedom of expression. Given that the objective of the study to be analyzed will be historical in nature, as well as its impact on the evolution of freedom of expression and the application of constitutional guarantees, a non-experimental design will be used, which will be applied in a transversal manner, considering that the research topic has sufficient theoretical support. This study will use a qualitative approach that will include documentary analysis and in-depth interviews. The choice of this approach is justified due to the historical and contextual nature of the topic. The aim will be to show the ways in which freedom of expression has been violated, and how the law was able to guarantee or not, to those affected. The evolution of the media and the ways of communication affected will be shown.
