| Abstract: | Abstract: This study analyzes trends in the unemployment rate in Ecuador (1990-2023) and its relationship with GDP, inflation and the net enrollment rate. The evolution of these variables was reviewed to identify patterns and analyze how economic factors affect unemployment and the Ecuadorian labor market. The methodology included a descriptive analysis of historical data and the application of Spearman's correlation coefficient. The results show non-significant negative correlations between unemployment and GDP (-0.2430), inflation (-0.1793), and the net enrollment rate (-0.0019). These results indicate that there is insufficient evidence to affirm a significant correlation between the unemployment rate and the other variables during the period studied. The conclusions suggest the need for public policies that diversify the economy, improve education and promote economic stability to effectively address unemployment in Ecuador. |
| Description: | Resumen: Este estudio analiza las tendencias de la tasa de desempleo en Ecuador (1990-2023) y su relación con el PIB, la inflación y la tasa neta de matriculación. Se revisó la evolución de estas variables para identificar patrones y analizar cómo factores económicos afectan el desempleo y el mercado laboral ecuatoriano. La metodología incluyó un análisis descriptivo de datos históricos y la aplicación del coeficiente de correlación de Spearman. Los resultados muestran correlaciones negativas no significativas entre el desempleo y el PIB (-0.2430), la inflación (-0.1793), y la tasa neta de matriculación (-0.0019). Estos resultados indican que no hay evidencia suficiente para afirmar una correlación significativa entre la tasa de desempleo y las otras variables durante el periodo estudiado. Las conclusiones sugieren la necesidad de políticas públicas que diversifiquen la economía, mejoren la educación y promuevan la estabilidad económica para abordar efectivamente el desempleo en Ecuador. |
