Abstract

Abstract:This analysis examines the correlation between the Development Goal Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) number 15 of the United Nations 2030 Agenda, focused on life of terrestrial ecosystems, and the Constitutional Sentence of Ecuador No. 1185- 20-JP/21, known as the Aquepi River Sentence. The objective of this research is to evaluate how national legal frameworks can facilitate compliance with the SDG, especially in the protection and restoration of terrestrial and marine ecosystems, and in the fight against the loss of biodiversity. For this, the following are established Specific objectives: examine the content and scope of SDG 15 in the global context and its applicability in Ecuador; analyze the Sentence of the Aquepi River, identifying its main elements and their impact on the protection of said river; and evaluate the effectiveness of the implementation of this ruling in the promotion of sustainable practices and the conservation of terrestrial ecosystems in the affected region. The methodology employed includes an exhaustive review of literature and documents, including reports from international organizations, academic studies, national legislation and the ruling mentioned. The results obtained reveal a significant positive impact of the Ruling on the protection of the Aquepi River, promoting sustainable practices in management of natural resources and encouraging the participation of local communities in the ecosystem conservation. Likewise, it is concluded that the effective application of frameworks national legal frameworks, aligned with international sustainability objectives, is crucial for the preservation and restoration of terrestrial ecosystems.
