Abstract

Abstract: The following thesis work called "Characterization of diatoms in the Ibon de Cregueña/Spain" had as its general objective to carry out a microscopic study of the samples obtained to understand the composition and distribution of the microfossils present in the high mountain lake. Where through analytical techniques by microscope, satisfactory results could be identified based on our objectives, representing through images of each sample analyzed, the great distribution of diatoms and the abundance of species found in the Ibon, where the Aulacoseira ambigua was the most abundant species, which demonstrated the adaptation of these microalgae to the physical and climatic conditions of this ecosystem. In addition, the results provide valuable knowledge about the biodiversity of the studied area, together with the importance of environmental conditions in the composition of the local biota and laying a foundation for future research in similar high mountain ecosystems.
