Evaluación de la efectividad de manejo del sitio Ramsar Parque Nacional Cajas, Provincia del Azuay

Abstract

Abstract: The present study investigated the management of the Ramsar Site "Parque Nacional Cajas" through R-METT forms, which are provided by the Ramsar Convention. These forms were applied to the ETAPA Group, responsible for the protected area, resulting in an overall management effectiveness index of 81.87%. The R-METT methodology was used to assess aspects such as Context, Planning, Inputs, Processes, Products, and Additional Points. Areas such as legal status and planning received outstanding ratings of "VERY SATISFACTORY" with 100% and 90.48%, respectively. However, areas for improvement were identified, such as the frequency of monitoring and fee management. Furthermore, necessary improvements were highlighted, including increasing the frequency of monitoring and enhancing the management of received fees. Although the overall effectiveness was positive, challenges were identified in community participation and economic benefits.
