Estado del conocimiento del matorral seco interandino de Ecuador en el contexto de Cambio Global

Abstract

Abstract: The objective of this research is to synthesize the existing literature on the inter-Andean region of Ecuador to identify possible research gaps. Data collection was carried out by searching for key terms in academic databases and reviewing theses, books and scientific articles in Spanish and English. Exclusion criteria were applied to guarantee the quality of the information collected. The classification of studies was carried out according to the provinces of the Ecuadorian inter-Andean region, global change factors, Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) of the United Nations and taxonomic category. In the data analysis, the percentage of studies related to each global change factor and SDG was counted and calculated. An uneven distribution of research was identified with Azuay and Pichincha leading in studies related to global change factors. Climate change was highlighted as the most researched factor and it was observed that the SDGs Climate Action and Clean Water and Sanitation received the most attention. This research offers a first overview of research in the inter-Andean region, providing a basis for understanding trends and priorities in the context of global change in this region.
