Abstract: The purpose of this study was to determine the main types of anesthesia and complications in patients treated at the Hospital UTPL by medical record review in order to contribute to the development of the epidemiological profile of the Hospital. This was a descriptive study with a quantitative, retrospective and cross-sectional approach, the sample was constituted by patients seen in the area of operating room of the Hospital - UTPL during May 2007 - April 2012, the information collected was taken from the medical records and hospital database. The type of anesthesia used by the patients was sedation and anesthesia in a 50.54 % followed by 32.68 % with general anesthesia and major anesthetic complications were hypotension 0.60%, 0.15 % hypertension, bradycardia with 0,45 %, 0.15 % tachycardia which vary by sex , age and type of surgery is such an emergency or planned , noting that of 664 patients attended the 98.64 % had no complications. In conclusion, this information which can be performed an epidemiological profile is recognized.
Description: El propósito de este estudio fue determinar los principales tipos de anestesia y sus complicaciones en pacientes atendidos en el Hospital UTPL; mediante revisión de historias clínicas con la finalidad de contribuir a la elaboración del perfil epidemiológico del Hospital. Se trató de un estudio de tipo descriptivo con enfoque cuantitativo, retrospectivo y de diseño transversal, la muestra estuvo constituida por pacientes atendidos en el área de quirófano del Hospital UTPL durante mayo 2007- abril 2012, la información recolectada fue tomada de las historias clínicas y la base de datos del hospital. El tipo de anestesia más utilizado por los pacientes fue sedación y analgesia en un 50,54% seguida de anestesia general con 32,68% y las principales complicaciones anestésicas fueron: hipotensión 0,60%, hipertensión 0,15%, bradicardia con 0,45%, taquicardia 0,15% los cuales varían según el sexo, edad y el tipo de cirugía sea esta emergencia o planificada, destacando que de 664 pacientes atendidos el 98,64% no presentaron complicaciones.
