Actitudes socioculturales frente a las infecciones de transmisión sexual en estudiantes universitarios de la UTPL de primer año periodo octubre 2015 - febrero 2016

Abstract

The aim of this work is to characterize the students in categories of different ages and sex, to research about their knowledge about sexually transmitted diseases, to learn about their social and cultural attitudes towards sexually transmitted diseases in first-year students. For that, a prospective research has done, this research involves 308 students of 4 academic areas in the UTPL, enrolled in the period of September 2015- February 2016, to which we applied a survey that consisted in 13 questions, previously of that the students signed an informed consent, obtaining the following results: the age of the students surveyed ranges between 17 and 23 years old, with a mean of 20.5 years old, the majority were men. The highest percentage of students have received true information (86%) on how to prevent an STD, being this an encourage sign. The five principal social and cultural attitudes that we found in the college students surveyed about people who has a STDs were fear, acceptance, understanding, discrimination and friendship.
