Abstract: The inspiration and fascination for the narrative genre of the black novel was the reason for the development of the present project, whose purpose is the interpretation of The Lorenzo’s Journal novel by means of illustrations. The Lorenzo’s Journal by Lenin Paladines is a black novel of the narrative genre and it consists of eleven chapters. The interpretation of this novel was to developed in an illustration for each chapter. All the steps are detailed through the illustrative process, from preliminary sketches, process of composition, and the final proposal of the created imaginary. The following artistic references were considered as guidelines of personal interest, the first was the illustrator Meritxell Ribas, regarding the outstanding development of chiaroscuro. A second reference was the famous set of The cabinet of Dr. Galigari film, due to the fast development of the environment and the characters of facial features. The last reference was the filmmaker Tim Burton, in what refers to the direction scenographic with symbolic elements, mixing fantasy and reality.
Description: La inspiración y fascinación por el género narrativo de la novela negra fue el motivo para el desarrollo del presente proyecto, que tiene como propósito la interpretación de la novela El diario de Lorenzo por medio de ilustraciones. El diario de Lorenzo de Lenin Paladines está dentro del género narrativo de la novela negra y consta de once capítulos. La interpretación de esta novela consistió en desarrollar una ilustración para cada capítulo. Se detalla el desarrollo de todos los pasos mediante el proceso ilustrativo desde los bocetos preliminares, el proceso de composición y la propuesta final del imaginario creado. Se consideró como pautas de interés personal a los siguientes referentes artísticos, el primero fue la ilustradora Meritxell Ribas, en cuanto al destacado desarrollo del claroscuro. Un segundo referente fue la famosa escenografía de la película El gabinete del Dr. Galigari, debido al desenvolvimiento trepidante e imposible del entorno y las características faciales de los personajes. El último referente fue el cineasta Tim Burton, en lo que se refiere a la dirección escenográfica con elementos asimétricos, mezclando fantasía y realidad.
