Abstract:	The objective of this research was to identify the prevalence level of the burnout syndrome and the functionality in the family environment in the doctors, nurses / nursing assistants of a private institution located in the north-east of the city of Loja. The importance of the present study was to know the impact that the presence of the syndrome has on the family environment. The design was quantitative, with a descriptive and correlational scope, with a sample of 30 health professionals (doctors and nurses / nursing assistants). In relation to the dimensions of burnout, 31.3% of exhaustion and 12.5% of depersonalization were obtained in high levels and 18.8% of low personal accomplishment in physicians, while nurses / nursing assistants obtained a 14.3% of high exhaustion, not scores were shown in depersonalization and low personal achievement with 50%. A significant negative correlation was found with the exhaustion dimension and family functioning, r = -. 592, p = .016 in physicians and with the dimension of personal fulfillment and family functioning in the nursing staff / nursing assistants r = .424, p = .017.
Description:	El presente trabajo de investigación tuvo como objetivo identificar el nivel de prevalencia del síndrome de burnout y la funcionalidad en el entorno familiar en los médicos, enfermeras/auxiliares de enfermería de una institución privada ubicada al nor-oriente de la ciudad de Loja. La importancia del presente estudio fue conocer el impacto que trae consigo la presencia del síndrome en el entorno familiar. El diseño fue cuantitativo, con alcance descriptivo y de tipo correlacional, con una muestra de 30 profesionales de salud (médicos y enfermeras/auxiliares de enfermería). En relación a las dimensiones del burnout, se obtuvo un 31.3% de agotamiento y 12.5% despersonalización en niveles altos y 18.8% baja realización personal en médicos, mientras que el personal de enfermería/auxiliares de enfermería obtuvo un 14.3% de agotamiento alto, no se evidenciaron puntajes en despersonalización y baja realización personal con un 50%. Se encontró una correlación negativa significativa con la dimensión de agotamiento y el funcionamiento familiar, r =-.592, p =.016 en los médicos y con la dimensión de realización personal y funcionamiento familiar en el personal de enfermería/auxiliares de enfermería r=.424, p=.017.
