Abstract

The current project presents a sculptural proposal, which is based on the celebration of Christmas of Saraguros through the stylization of the human being figure and some other elements. It is a documentary and field research that pursues to expose some of the customs and traditions of people who lives in Saraguro, with the goal of exalting and sustaining their identity, which, whether through industrialization or other evolutionary elements, loses its value and cultural permanence. The analyzed chapters reveal a theoretical and practical solidification for the emersion of this project. On the artistic side this proposal presents the exploration of a personal style and also represents the freedom that art offers to express ourselves with themes and techniques of any kind. The work pictures the strength, presence and joy of a dejected town and people, whose use their culture to show to the world and to represent they are proud of its roots.
