Percepción y opinión pública de los ecuatorianos sobre la realidad socio ambiental nacional. Análisis del cantón Pindal, provincia Loja

Abstract

This study was carried out with the purpose of knowing the perception of the citizens of the Pindal canton, Loja province, in relation to the basic services that the population possesses: environment, water, markets, quality of life, participation and democracy, and equity. This work is justified in the need to obtain direct information from the citizen to propose improvements in these services. 370 people from the cantonal capital and from the parishes were surveyed, therefore it includes the urban sector and the rural sector. The most important results indicate, among others, that the environment in the Pindal canton is being negatively affected by the excessive use of agrochemicals for the cultivation of corn. The people surveyed are not sure of the benefit of landfills, but they recycle and look for ways to avoid contaminating more. A third of them use piped water for their consumption and agree that they are not satisfied with the basic services they receive from the local government. The perception of people is that they do not receive basic quality services and that there is widespread neglect of the environmen.
