Percepción y opinión de los ecuatorianos sobre realidad socio ambiental nacional: Análisis cantón Cotacachi, provincia de Imbabura

Abstract

The main of the present study was to identify the perception and opinion of the inhabitants of the Cotacachi canton, province of Imbabura, about the socio-environmental reality. In order to obtain the data of public opinion, a survey was applied to people over 18 years of urban and rural parishes of the Cotacachi Canton.

The survey was lead to 381 people, that instrument is structured by 7 sections of closed questions with the following topics: data of the interviewee, environment, markets, water, quality of life, equity and citizen participation. The results obtained were tabulated and analyzed to be presented in graphs and tables.

Finally, the results were obtained that reflect that the inhabitants of the Cotacachi canton feel satisfied to live in their locality, consider that it is very important to take care of the environment and contemplate that the greatest threat to biodiversity is air, and water pollution. At the time of acquiring products they are observed in their quality, they also recognize that there is still no equality between men and women and that the group of people most vulnerable to suffer greater inequality are adults over 65 years old.
