| Abstract: | Abstract: The Ecuadorian State has a great water diversity, suitable for the implementation of hydroelectric projects that help to supply the energy demand in the country. However, the access to electricity is limited in rural zones or remote areas of the National Interconnected System (NIS). In that case, the objective of this work was to evaluate small-scale hydropower sites in the province of Loja, optimizing public infrastructure, such as irrigation and pressure systems. To achieve this aim, three stages were carried out: data collection in the field, analysis of the theoretical potential that could be used in the cantons analyzed and realization of an energy inventory of the points of interest. The evaluation of the energetic potential, showed the usable water level in the whole province of Loja, by optimizing existing civil resources. Besides, the energetic and topographic characteristics of the sites studied allowed us to recommend the possible generation medium (turbine) that is coupled to the civil works observed. The optimization of water resources through small-scale structures secure the future change in Ecuador's energy matrix. |
| Description: | Resumen: El Estado ecuatoriano posee una gran diversidad hídrica, apta para la implementación de proyectos hidroeléctricos que ayudan a suplir la demanda energética en el país. Sin embargo, al acceso a energía eléctrica es limitado en zonas alejadas o remotas del Sistema Nacional Interconectado (SNI). Ante ello, este trabajo tuvo como objetivo evaluar los sitios de interés hidro energético a pequeña escala en la provincia de Loja, optimizando la infraestructura pública, como son los sistemas de riego y presión. Para cumplir con este objetivo se realizaron tres etapas: recolección de datos en campo, análisis del potencial teórico aprovechable en los cantones analizados y realización de un inventario energético de los puntos de interés. La evaluación del potencial energético mostró el nivel hídrico aprovechable en toda la provincia de Loja, al optimizar recursos civiles existentes. Además, las características energéticas y topográficas de los sitios estudiados permitieron recomendar el posible medio de generación (turbina) que se acople a las obras civiles observadas. La optimización de los recursos hídricos mediante estructuras a pequeña escala afianza el cambio futuro en la matriz energética del Ecuador. |
