Percepción y opinión de los ecuatorianos sobre la realidad socio ambiental nacional: Análisis del cantón Cayambe

Abstract

The objective of the thesis project was to analyze the perception and opinion of the inhabitants of the Cayambe canton in aspects such as: environment, quality of life, citizen participation and gender equity. An experimental research was carried out with a qualitative approach. A simple random sampling was performed with a total population of 85,795 inhabitants and a confidence level of 95%. The sample size was 384 inhabitants. Surveys were applied in six rural parishes and two urban parishes of the Cayambe canton. The results were analyzed with the Microsoft Excel program. 67% of the people surveyed were women. The most representative generational group was adults with a higher education level. Regarding the perception that the respondents have of the environment, they feel that the most important environmental problems are the loss of natural resources, the contamination of water and the increasing amount of waste, they also think that within the most efficient solutions to treat them are recycle , reuse, reduce and buy organic products. The results indicated that for the surveyed population it is of great importance to protect the environment, but they do not feel sufficiently informed about these issues. The information is mostly received through television and Decentralized Autonomous Governments, feeling confidence in the information that these media publish. People feel satisfied living in Cayambe.
