Description: Abstract:However, the presence of genetic variants could modify the detoxication capacity affecting the health of individuals. In the present study were evaluated polymorphisms of genes GSTM1, GSTT1, GSTP1 and PON-1, in 189 individuals from the town of Calvas, 121 exposed to pesticides and 68 not exposed, by PCR: Multiplex, RFLPs and sequencing. The frequencies of null alleles GSTM1 and GSTT1 in the general population were 44.97% and 48,51%, respectively, Ile105Val GSTP1 62,28% for Val. In polymorphisms of the PON1 gene: Leu55Met 7,7% for Met and Gln192Arg 57,67% for Arg. The GSTM1 null allele was associated with higher percentage of obesity in exposed individuals, whereas GSTT1 was related to low ICC and high levels of HDL in the population not exposed. The polymorphisms of PON1, the allele Met showed high HDL levels, and in men was found relationship with low levels of TGO, TGP and GGT in the population not exposed; at the same time, the Arg allele showed a relationship with low cholesterol and lipid values in the general population.
