Description: Abstract:Land use changes are related to the increase of urban areas, pastures and agricultural land use, being considered as one of the main environmental problems at global scale. Forest conversion of natural ecosystems caused loss diversity of plants, birds, mammals and invertebrates. The rheophilic bryophytes modulate environmental humidity and perform a key function related with water and nutrient ciclyng. In this research we evaluated the land use effects on diversity of rheophilic bryophytes. We established 12 localities distributed according to four types of land use (forest, forest-pasture, pasture and urban). We registered the presence/absence and bryophytes cover in 120 grids of 20 x 30 cm. We analyzed alpha diversity (richness and diversity) with diversity indices and composition with multivariate analyses. We recorded a total of 43 bryophytes species, distributed in 26 liverworts, 15 mosses y two Anthoceros. We concluded that bryophyte richness and composition were influenced by land use, therefore the conservation of natural forests allow to maintain high diversity of rheophilic bryophyte.
