Estado nutricional en los niños de 0 a 4 años pertenecientes al Centro Infantil Creciendo Con Nuestros Hijos (CNH) El Paraíso de Jipiro de la ciudad de Loja durante el año 2016

Abstract

Abstract: The nutritional status corresponds to the balance between the intake and the use of the different nutrients, being one of the best indicators of individual and population health. Objective: to determine the nutritional status of the children from 0 to 4 years of age belonging to the CNH “El Paraíso de Jipiro” of the city of Loja by obtaining anthropometric measurements and hemoglobin level to detect the main nutritional problems. Methods: A cross – sectional descriptive study with a quantitative approach and non – experimental design was carried out in a population of 57 infants. The anthropometric measurement was carried out following the growth curves and the determination of the weight – height index (IPT) to evaluate the nutritional status. In addition, the hemoglobin value was determined to assess the incidence of anemia. Results: Of the total number of infants evaluated, 70.2% presented eutrophy, 19.3% undernourished, 8.8% overweight and 1.8% obese. The incidence of anemia was 28.06%. Conclusions: Despite being a small study population, nutritional problems due to éficit or excess was present in 30% of the population.
