Abstract: For the preparation of the biopolymer the starch of Canna edulis (achira) was used, additives such as: water, glycerin, acetic acid and the temperature of the process were used in different levels according to the experimental design, the stirring speed was 100 rpm for 30 min and the drying temperature was carried out at 45 ° C for 24 hours. A total of 81 biopolymers were obtained, of which four were selected, which were determined: thickness, refractive index, absorption and optical transmittance, coefficient of elasticity, roughness, thermal transmittance, effects of the environment, effects exposure to X-rays and UV, gelatinization temperature, melting temperature, optical microscopy, determination of water absorption and determination of soluble matter. The damage that caused the effects of the environment on the biopolymers was observed, reaching a total biodegradation in a month, in the same way the increase in stress at the rupture that they presented after being subjected to X and UV rays was calculated.es_ES
