Evaluación de la efectividad de manejo en áreas marino costeras: área de manglar de la Cooperativa de Producción Pesquera “Vikingos del Mar”, en la provincia de El Oro.

Abstract

The present work of end of titration was developed in order to know the level of management of the Mangrove Custody Area of the Fisheries Production Cooperative "Vikingos del Mar" located in the Jambelí Archipelago, Santa Rosa, El Oro province and if it is fulfilling the objectives of the Agreements of Sustainable Use and Mangrove Custody.

For this, the Reference Framework of Hockings and the Rapid Assessment and Priorization Methodology of Protected Areas Management (RAPPAM) of the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF) was applied, which was complemented with a multi-temporal analysis of mangrove coverage in three periods of time.

As a result of the Evaluation of Management Effectiveness, a percentage average of 59% was obtained with a level of SATISFACTORY management, which means that although the area has an acceptable management, although it still has weaknesses for the management of the area. While for the multitemporal analysis a favorable result was obtained in the annual change rate of mangrove cover with (+ 1.67%) in the period 2008 - 2016 thanks to the Custody and Mangrove Use Agreements.
