Abstract:Deforestation driven by processes such as land fragmentation has a high incidence in the loss of forests, and in countries like Ecuador the loss of this coverage is alarming. Although deforestation is analyzed from several perspectives, this work involves the size of the land as a variable to be taken into account in deforestation processes. The data was modeled through MaxEnt to identify which variables are more important in the occurrence of forest, and through a decision tree it was identified how these variables are related to favor an ideal scenario of deforestation. The results suggest that the size of the property as an explanatory variable is important in the occurrence of forest, however there are variables that determine that the importance of land area may vary. We also identify that the largest area of forest at risk is centered on zone 3 of the Loja canton.es_ES
