Abstract

Abstract:Due to the limited intervention for the conservation and restoration of the modern architectural heritage in the city of Loja, it has been difficult to identify a particular architectural style. That is why the initiative arises through the present investigation to collect information through a qualitative and quantitative search of the life and work of the architect Marcelo Rodríguez Palacios whose objective is to know and highlight his professional activity and his subsequent influence. The method used was analytical-reflexive, through interviews, information gathering and direct observation, managing to document biographical and professional information of the architect, knowing his academic background and his references; the contribution of his work is of important importance, since it contributes to the urban image with the construction of several buildings representative of the town, one of the most outstanding works: the “Capilla de la Medalla Milagrosa”; with the analysis of this work it was possible to demonstrate the qualities of lightness and immateriality characteristic of modern architecture, which has not been intervened, its changes have been chromatic something that does not formally attack the work.
