Analysis of EFL teachers` skills, attitudes, and use regarding ICT in Ecuadorian private high schools

Abstract

Abstract:This study, Analysis of EFL teachers’ skills, attitudes, and use regarding ICT in Ecuadorian private high schools, was conducted with the purpose to find out and analyse the EFL teachers` skills, attitudes, and use regarding ICT in the private Ecuadorian educational context. The sample chosen consisted of EFL teachers of private high schools in Tumbaco – Quito, in the Pichincha Province of Ecuador. A mixed method that combined a quantitative and qualitative approaches was used. The instruments were questionnaires and interviews. The interview was the technique applied to six teachers, in order to present qualitative data. The survey was applied to ten teachers, and it was used to find answers through a quantitative approach. The three variables of the present research were divided in different tables, using the Likert – scale to put the surveys answers of the teacher in order to discover their technological skills, attitude toward technology and the use of ICT in their classrooms. The findings showed that teachers presented a positive attitude toward ICT and the use of technological tools in EFL classrooms.
