Analysis of EFL teachers skills, attitudes, and use regarding ICT in Ecuadorian private high schools

Abstract

Abstract:The theme of this investigation is “Analysis of EFL teachers’ skills, attitudes, and use regarding ICT in Ecuadorian private high schools”, its purpose is to investigate and analyze the EFL teachers’ skills, attitudes, and ICTs use. This research took place in two Ecuadorian private high schools, located in Latacunga city. The sample was ten EFL teachers ranging from 26 to 52 years of age. Their teaching experience in high school at that time was between two to fifteen years. In order to get data and results for this project qualitative and quantitative analysis were applied. The quantitative approach gives information regarding teachers’ skills, attitudes, and frequency of use of ICT. Additionally, the qualitative approach gives extra information related to the teachers’ perceptions based on the statements proposed in the interviews. Technology is a fundamental tool in education that benefits students, teachers, parents, and authorities. The private High Schools selected for this investigation are technologically very well equipped, because they consider that the use of technology generates more productive clases.
