Abstract

Abstract:Peripheral settlements are manifested as transformation zones between the city and the countryside, where, as a result, urban, agricultural and livestock activities that compete for the occupation of the same land are mixed, thinking of these spaces as multifunctional that are subject to large and vertiginous evolutions. The present work is directed to the understanding of a peripheral sector around the El Capulí neighborhood, whose knowledge helps to identify the reality of these urban edges of the city of Loja through the analysis of their physical and functional state contributing to establish guidelines that allow the design of intervention strategies and urban recovery of the peripheral space of the city. It is proposed to think and develop an integrated, connected, attractive and at the same time socially equitable edge that conserves and optimizes its natural, territorial and cultural aspects of the urban-rural population of El Capulí turning it into a place of high quality of life. The research is aimed at being a reference document for government entities about possible solutions and strategic approaches for these urban growth processes.
