Evaluación de las interacciones conflictivas entre gente-fauna silvestre en la zona de amortiguamiento del Parque Nacional Podocarpus, sectores Rumishitana-Vilcabamba

Abstract

Abstract:The present research study has as a main objective to evaluate the conflicting interactions between people-wildlife in the buffer zone of the Podocarpus National Park, Rumishitana-Vilcabamba sectors. In 2018, during the first four-month period the study is carried out through 40 interviews; where the results indicate that two thirds of the sample have experienced some type of interaction with wildlife. Seven wild species have been used in some way, mainly mentioning; medicinal, nutritional and handmade use. Faced with this, it is necessary to expand the research sample, in nearby localities, to generate feasible actions. There is evidence of the scarce use of wildlife, due to the breeding of domestic animals, the loss of traditions and environmental campaigns. In view of this, it is necessary to elaborate a joint proposal about the alternatives of integral exploitation for the use and management of wildlife. The people-wildlife conflict is characterized by the economic damage caused by; the fox, the squirrel and the opossum. Therefore, it is recommended to design a "Community Alert", which allows neighboring farms to be alert and prevent the attack of these animals. There is a high level of negative perception regarding wildlife, in this context the authorities must inform and raise awareness in the community about the importance of the ecosystem.
