Abstract

Abstract:Current research work studied the illusory in modern architecture built by the architect Jorge Auquilla Ortega, understood as the way to represent in works something that does not physically exist, that is, certain sensations and atmospheres generated in architectural spaces, either consciously or unconsciously. It begins with the study of rationalism from its origin until its arrival in the city of Loja in the middle of the 20th century. Two types of interviews were applied with the architect, a structured one and free one, writing his biography, a catalog of all his works built in the city, as well as a study of the one that stands out the most through its redrawing and architectural analysis, in order to understand the lines of design that were applied in his work. The analysis describes the illusory present in his work, explained through rhetorical figures such as metonymy, metaphors, ellipsis, etc., which allow us to understand, in a literary form, sensations, shapes and atmospheres that have come to be conceived in the built being, a great contribution to the theory and criticism of architecture.
