Abstract

Abstract:This research focused on analyzing the relationship between attitudes towards machismo and attitudes towards violence against women in the relationship between 54 students in second and third year of unified general baccalaureate. The design of this research was quantitative, correlational, non-experimental and transverse. It was investigated by means of three instruments: Ad hoc Sociodemographic Questionnaire, Attitudes Scale towards violence against women in the couple relationship and Scale of Machist Attitudes Assessment, Violence and Stereotypes. The results suggest that there is a positive correlation between machismo and violence against women in the couple relationship, just as attitudes towards violence against women in the prevalent couple relationship are related to heritage violence. Also, the attitudes towards machismo that prevail most relate to the myths of romantic love and jealousy.
