Analysis of EFL teachers skills, attitudes, and use regarding ICT in Ecuadorian Public High Schools

Abstract

Abstract:The theme of the present research is the Analysis of EFL teachers skills, attitudes, and use regarding ICT in Ecuadorian Public High Schools. Its purpose was to investigate and analyze the EFL teachers skills, attitudes, and ICT use. To achieve this objective, it was necessary to use a quantitative and qualitative approach. Survey and interview were the instruments employed for gathering data; these research instruments were applied to ten teachers; three male and seven female, from public high schools in Quito, in the province of Pichincha, Ecuador. The results showed that teachers´ ICT skills are not related to the frequency of ICT use in the classrooms. Even though teachers have positive skills using ICT´s in the teaching-learning process, the lack of technological resources in public high schools does not allow the frequent use of ICT´s in the classrooms in order to improve the student´s language skills.
