Abstract

Abstract:The road infrastructure of the Loja -Zamora road, in winter times is affected due to the instability of the slopes, this possibly because of the absence of crest ditches that evacuate surface water through hydraulic structures such as concrete rapids in certain points of interest, however, these usually present errors in its operation, causing discomfort and great economic losses to citizens who travel on this road. This study focuses on proposing a procedure for inventorying and inspecting the hydraulic infrastructure concerning concrete highways on the Loja -Zamora road. These inventory and inspection data will be examined to detect problems at points of interest on the aforementioned road and to recommend maintenance policies to the entities in charge of these structures.The developed risk assessment method is presented, which calculates the overall rating of the structural integrity of any element of the inspected concrete highways and recommends actions for the constant improvement of drainage management in the points of interest of the Loja -Zamora road.Thedirect users of this study will be the Ministry of Transport and Public Works of Ecuador (MTOP) and the Decentralized Autonomous Governments of the Loja and Zamora Chinchipe cantons, and all those institutions that have among their competences -direct or indirect-the management of road infrastructure.
