Abstract

Abstract:The present work: "Reading as a means to develop critical-creative thinking in the seventh basic students", performed in the Missionary Educational Unit "The Immaculate" of Loja, whose goal is making that the students of the seventh age of General Basic Education of the Immaculate High School, like the reading, as activity to develop the critical-creative thinking . The problem is that students "don't read". This thesis has three parts: the first, qualitative bibliographic investigation, second, quantitative field investigation and third, report and recommendations. The methodology is mixed: bibliographic and statistical, qualitative-quantitative, technical: survey. The results obtained of this investigation evidence that most of the students likes reading. They do not read by many factors such as: time, tiredness, difficult texts, little motivation; they demonstrate attraction to critical-creative reading without knowing it in depth. It is transcendental, to promote the learning of strategies that incentivize the taste for reading in order to obtain a critical-creative training that responds to the academic, scientific and professional demands and expectations of society.
