Abstract

Abstract: Objective: To assess the degree of implementation of the palliative care guide and its impact on the care of people with chronic diseases at the Carigan Health Center during 2019. Methodology: Analytical cross-sectional study, carried out in 2019, at the Carigan Health Center. A survey was applied to health center personnel, the NECPAL instrument to 165 patients with chronic diseases and the ESAS instrument to 29 people who required palliative care. Results: 25% of the guideline was implemented, it represents a low level, and a low level of knowledge on the management of symptoms in palliative care was identified. 10.3% of patients accessed palliative services, 31% presented severe pain, 59% a marked feeling of exhaustion, 48% felt depressed, and 66% perceived a feeling of lack of well-being, reflecting multi- symptomatic, undiagnosed patients Conclusions: There is a low level of implementation and knowledge of health personnel on the Palliative Care Guide, which could influence the increase in symptoms perceived by patients requiring palliative care.
