Abstract

Globalization, use with technological advances, put on local television in a very competitive scenario, use platforms on the Internet digitally and other ways of transmitting information and communication, increase the demand of users, who are looking for any means to stay in contact or connection with the daily events of the society where they live. Local television media have the ability to generate their own audiovisual communication, to develop their identity. This degree work shows a detailed and detailed analysis of the current context and perspectives of local television in Ecuador. The study focuses on Zone 8, which covers the cantons of: Guayaquil, Samborondón and Durán. This area is characterized by similarities in terms of population, culture, preferences, behaviors and others, which has allowed television stations to offer their programming; through exploratory-descriptive work, and study of each television observed locally in Zone 8, using interviews with managers of local television stations, non-participant observation (non-influential observation in the actions of television stations), and a comparative analysis of the programming , to establish conclusions linked and related to the objectives and hypotheses of the research object of this work, determine which local televisions act as a strategic instrument of proximity and contribution to the society in which they are involved; They also provide entertainment, information and citizen service.
