Abstract: | Abstract: Objective:To determine the incidence of chronic postoperative pain and its associated factors in patients of the Gynecology-Obstetrics service of the Isidro Ayora General Hospital.Methodology:This study was prospective, observational, correlational and descriptive, conducted in 50 patients undergoing gynecological-obstetric procedures during the period January-April 2019. The Visual Analog Scale was used to assess the intensity of acute pain and the Pain detect questionnaire to assess the neuropathic characteristics of pain, both measurements were made in the preoperative period, at 24h and 48h and at the 1st and 3rd month of the postoperative period. Results: 6% (n = 3) of the patients had chronic pain at 3 months of follow-up, the relationship between the intensity of acute pain after 48 hours and the first month (p <0.002; p <0.002) being significant, as well as the presence of neuropathic characteristics in the 48h and first month (p <0.002; p <0.000) with the development of chronic pain at 3 months. Conclusions: There is a significant relationship between the intensity of acute pain, and the presence of neuropathic characteristics with the development of chronic pain. |
