Abstract: | Abstract: The following research work aimed to determine the incidence of chronic postoperative pain and its associated factors, in patients undergoing surgical procedures in the General Surgery Service of the Manuel Ygnacio Monteros IESS Hospital Loja, during the period October 2018 -March 2019. With a sample of 50 patients was established, who were questioned through a direct interview in the preoperative and postoperative period (24-48 hours) and through a telephone call at the first, second and third months. The visual analog scale (VAS) scale was applied to value pain intensity and the Pain Detect questionnaire (PD-Q) to identify the neuropathic characteristics that predicted chronic pain. The main conclusion is the incidence of 0% was found, however, there was a 12% doubtful result. The diagnosis (p=0.016), the pain localization (p=0.025) and the duration of surgery (p=0.019) were associated factors. 38% presented severe preoperative pain, 50 and 54% reported severe pain in the postoperative period at 24 and 48 hours, respectively; and 28% presented soft pain at the third month. |
