Abstract:This work was developed with the aim of explaining the contribution of Social Constructivism to student learning as the foundation of the Institutional Pedagogical Proposal, in the Sagrado Corazón de Jesús Bethlemitas Educational Unit in Latacunga. For this, different principles that contribute to the construction of students' knowledge are analyzed, taking into account the role played by the different educational actors responsible for the processes proposed by the institution. Concepts of constructivism, social constructivism, pedagogy, didactics and the relationship that these disciplines maintain within the educational process were considered; Some of the principles and purposes raised in the LOEI were also considered, as well as the principles for the development of the 2016 National Education Curriculum, which contributed to substantiate the importance of the pedagogical proposal that educational institutions propose for the development of the practice. education and thereby show the great contribution of social constructivism to the teaching-learning process of students, strengthening the development of pedagogies, didactics, techniques and methodologies that are applied in education.
