Sobrecarga en cuidadores informales de adultos mayores en el Ecuador

Abstract

Abstract:The present work entitled ¨Overload in informal caregivers of the elderly in Ecuador¨, aimed to measure the level of work overload in informal caregivers of the elderly in the cities of Quito, Latacunga and Pedernales, in the period 2019-2020 . The research carried out was exploratory, descriptive and cross-sectional, with the participation of twenty informal caregivers and older adults, a total of eight psychological tests and one of sociodemographic conditions were applied, these tests were intended to study the different variables that interact before the appearance of the overload. Once the data obtained was analyzed, it was possible to conclude that there is a marked difference in the sex of the caregivers, of which eighty-five percent were women, only forty-five percent presented overload, thirty percent of the adults Older people were dependent and eighty percent of caregivers perceived high social support, so it can be concluded that informal caregivers and overload are related to coping factors.
