| Abstract: | Abstract: The present work shows a study on the chemical composition of the essential oil of the plant species Hypericum aciculare Kunth, collected in the province of Loja located in southern Ecuador. For the extraction of essential oil, the steam distillation method was used, from which it was possible to identify 62 compounds. The identified compounds represent 96.81% of the total oil composition. Furthermore, the extraction yield was calculated and the relative density of the essential oil was measured. The major compounds were: nonane (26,90 %), decanal (22,80 %), α-humulene (5,99 %), α- zingiberene (5,30 %) and geranial (4.60 %) |
| Description: | Resumen: El presente trabajo muestra un estudio sobre la composición química del aceite esencial de la especie vegetal Hypericum aciculare Kunth, recolectada en la provincia de Loja ubicada al sur del Ecuador. Para la extracción del aceite esencial se utilizó el método de destilación por arrastre de vapor, del cual, se logró identificar 62 compuestos. Los compuestos identificados representan el 96.81 % de la composición total del aceite. Además, se calculó el rendimiento de extracción y se midió la densidad relativa del aceite esencial. Los compuestos mayoritarios fueron: nonane (26,90 %), decanal (22,80 %), α-humulene (5,99 %), α-zingiberene (5,30 %) y geranial (4,60 %). |
