The ability to produce disease is associated with the presence of virulence factors such as: motility due to the presence of flagella, the ability to adhere and invasion to the eukaryotic cell, and the production of cytotoxins. That is why the objective of this study is to contribute information on the frequency of genes associated withcytotoxicity in Campylobacter. As part of the study, the conventional PCR technique was used to determine the cytotoxicity genes (cdtBand cdtC). 53 Campylobacterstrains belonging to C. jejuniand C. coliisolated from human (29) and animal (24) fecal matter were evaluated. At the end of the study, the results showed that 96% of the strains are positive for the cdtBgene and 92% for the cdtCgene, with a higher frequency being observed in C. jejuniin both human and animal strains.es_ES
