| Abstract: | Abstract:The objective is to identify work overload in informal caregivers of older adults in the north of the city of Quito during 2019-2020. It has a descriptive-quantitative methodology; with accessibility-accidental sample with 20 informal caregivers and 20 older adults. The instruments applied were: Ad Hoc Sociodemographic and Family Questionnaire, applied to the caregiver and older adult; Zarit Caregiver Burden Interview; Caring Questionnaire (BRS); Barthel Index (IB); General Health Questionnaire (GHQ-12); Duke-UNC 11 Social Support Questionnaire; COPE-28 Inventory (Brief COPE); Personality Questionnaire (EPQ-RA); Pfeiffer Portable Mental State Questionnaire (PSMSQ). The results show that 50% of the caregivers present slight overload, 80% have the necessary knowledge for caregiving, 65% of the caregivers' health is perceived as normal, the most used coping strategies are acceptance M: 3.85, and religion M: 3.45, 65% have social support, 40% of the older adults have normal cognitive impairment and 10% present total dependence. |
| Description: | Resumen:El objetivo es identificar la sobrecarga laboral en los cuidadores informales de adultos mayores en el norte de la ciudad de Quito durante el 2019-2020. Tiene una metodología descriptivo-cuantitativo; con muestra de accesibilidad-accidental con 20 cuidadores informales y 20 adultos mayores. Los instrumentos aplicados fueron: Cuestionario sociodemográfico y familiar Ad Hoc, aplicado al cuidador y adulto mayor; Entrevista de carga para cuidadores Zarit; Cuestionario Cuidar (BRS); Índice de Barthel (IB); Cuestionario de Salud General (GHQ-12); Cuestionario de Apoyo social de Duke-UNC 11; Inventario de COPE-28 (Brief COPE); Cuestionario de Personalidad (EPQ-RA); Cuestionario de Portátil del Estado Mental de Pfeiffer (PSMSQ). Los resultados muestran que el 50% de los cuidadores presentan sobrecarga leve, el 80% posee los conocimientos necesarios para el cuidado, la salud de los cuidadores se percibe normal en un 65%, las estrategias de afrontamiento más utilizadas son la aceptación M: 3.85, y la religión M: 3.45, existiendo presencia de apoyo social en un 65%, en los adultos mayores existe un deterioro cognitivo normal del 40% y un 10% presentan dependencia total. |
