Evaluación de la adaptación y producción de diferentes variedades de ajís (Capsicum sp.) en altitudes sobre los 2000 m s.n.m. (EA UTPL)

Abstract: The present work was carried out at the UTPL Agricultural Station, located in the Cajanuma sector south of Loja; aimed to determine the adaptation and development of different varieties of chili peppers (Capsicumsp.) at altitudes above 2000 m a.s.l. An open field area of 200m2 was selected, where four plots were made under a random block design, planting to evaluate the variables prep-germination, height, number of leaves, days of flowering, number of fruits, length of the fruit, diameter of the fruit, in different species of chili pepper Rocoto, De Cayenna, Escabeche, Jalapeño. The results of higher uptake and phenological development and De Cayenna did not have a good development in the variables evaluated. The Rocoto pepper was the one that obtained the greatest adaptation, however, its phenological phases have lengthened more than normal, not being able to measure the phases of flowers and fruits of the species, which possibly occurred due to the edaphoclimatic conditions of the area.
