Percepción y opinión de los ecuatorianos sobre realidad socio ambiental nacional. Estudio del cantón Rumiñahui en la provincia de Pichincha

Abstract

Abstract:The purpose of this work is to know the perception and opinion of the people of the Rumiñahui canton in the province of Pichincha in relation to the socio-economic and environmental aspects of the locality, based on axes such as the environment, water quality, equity, citizen participation, markets, and quality of life. The research of this project has a quantitative approach and a simple random sampling was used in an approximate population of 98,284, with a confidence level of 95%, and a confidence interval of 9.17. The initial sample size was 383 individuals, however, due to the health emergency, the sample was reduced to 114 inhabitants. The data was collected through online surveys in the period from November - December 2020. The results indicate that people have some knowledge about what biodiversity is at the same time that they consider that the main environmental problem is the increasing amount of garbage, it was also found that for the majority of respondents the most efficient action to address problems environmental is recycling. On the other hand, they consider that water should be a paid service, and they also consider that, when making a purchase, the quality of the product is very important. Finally, it was found that they are unaware of the power of citizen participation in Ecuador and that they perceive that inequality still exists, especially with the disabled and the elderly.
