| Abstract: | Abstract:The fact that the population grows day by day and the consequent increase in the demand of energy, have placed energy efficiency and energy saving in the line of actions of highest priority. This situation extends to all sectors and activities of contemporary society, including university libraries, such as the Benjamín Carrión Library of the Universidad Técnica Particular de Loja. In this context, the goal of this project is to plan the implementation of an Energy Management System for the library, in order to help in the improvement of the energy performance of the building and turn it into a demonstration center of the effects and benefits of the implementation of energy efficiency actions. Specifically, as a result of the analysis of the building during two historical years, it was determined that the first improvement to be implemented is a change in the policies of use of the facilities, which would allow saving up to 40% of consumption, with a relatively low investment compared to the budget that could be required to implement more aggressive measures. The measures to be implemented will be focus on the achievement of greater energy efficiency in the use of the facilities and existing equipment, but keeping the comfort levels of current users. |
| Description: | Resumen: El crecimiento poblacional y el consecuente aumento en la demanda de energía, han colocado a la eficiencia energética y al ahorro energético en la primera línea de acciones de mayor prioridad. Esta situación es extensiva a todos los sectores y actividades de la sociedad contemporánea, incluyendo a las bibliotecas universitarias, como el caso de la Biblioteca Benjamín Carrión de la Universidad Técnica Particular de Loja. En este contexto, el presente proyecto tiene por objetivo, planificar la implementación de un Sistema de Gestión de Energía para la biblioteca, a fin de contribuir a mejorar el desempeño energético de la edificación y a convertirla en un centro de demostración de los efectos y beneficios de la implementación de acciones de eficiencia energética. En concreto, como resultado del análisis del comportamiento de la edificación durante dos años históricos, se determinó como prioridad el cambio de las políticas de uso de las instalaciones, que permitiría ahorrar hasta un 40% de consumo, con una inversión relativamente baja en comparación con el presupuesto para implementar medidas más agresivas. Las medidas a implementar, se enfocarán en lograr mayor eficiencia energética en el uso de las instalaciones y del equipamiento existente, manteniendo los niveles de confort de los usuarios actuales. |
