Factors affecting EFL student´s oral communication skills

Abstract

Abstract:Learning English can represent a challenge for most students, there are several factors affecting the development of communicative skills. In this study, several factors affecting EFL students oral communication were analyzed; some of those factors can be focused on speaking difficulties or vocabulary deficiencies. For this study, it was necessary to have a backup of information to apply the methods correctly in a Literature Review. The method used in this study was the mixed method; also, this study was focused on 40 students from public high schools and five teachers. It was also necessary to include previous studies to complement the results of this study. The instruments used were questionnaires and observations and observation sheets. Using the quantitative and qualitative methods all the information from the interviews and observed lessons were gathered and then presented in results and discussion using charts and triangulation. After the data have been interpreted and analyzed, conclusions and recommendations can be stated. Communication skills should always be a priority for students, feel familiar with them in order to have a better performance in communication matters.
