Propuestas de mejora de seguridad vial del tramo Catamayo Gonzanamá desde Km 0+000 (Y de aeropuerto - Catamayo) hasta Km 19+500 (Sector Matala - Gonzanamá)

Abstract

Abstract: According to the statistics of the National Transit Agency of Ecuador, in the province of Loja since 2008 there is a progressive increase in the number and severity of accidents on the roads. Among the main causes are: disrespect for traffic signs, distraction when driving and driving under the influence of prohibited substances. This research is aimed at countering this trend by proposing improvements in road safety for a specific stretch of road. Therefore, the objective of this study is to propose road safety measures on a section of the Catamayo Gonzanamá road. This will be done using the International RoadEment Program (iRAP) model that is contained in the free and online software called ViDA. Previously, all the parameters requested by the software (photographs, geometric measurements, etc.) were obtained in the field. That information was processed and entered into the software. With these results, several countermeasures were analyzed and the most appropriate ones were proposed. Finally, the safety offered by the road was recalculated through the same program. The results of this thesis will serve to reduce the probability of accident or reduce the severity of the same on that road. In addition, it serves as a reference for it to be applied to other roads in the country.
