Abstract

Abstract:The Topophilia towards the literary space in the reading of the novel Las Cruces sobre el agua, written by the author of Guayaquil Joaquín Gallegos Lara, is the admiration of the mimesis of early 20th century places of Guayaquil. Topophilia is a term coined by the French philosopher Gastón Bachelard (2012), is the emotional bond that each person establishes towards a place. In the other hand, the literary space is the imaginary dimension where the events of fictitious characters take place. The thesis of this essay is topophilia experimentation at the moment of the meeting with literary space that it is only possible thought a conscious and significative reading. Spaces that are described in this uchronic novel belong to the real context of Guayaquil. Casually, that spaces do not exist currently or exist but without having a social function that generates sensations to the collective. Literature is one of the better alternatives where these places can be perceived, providing added value that causes an emotional and aesthetics experience to readers.
