Ecuadorian Public High School Teachers´ Perceptions on Technological Resources Used by Teachers in their EFL Classrooms During the COVID-19 Pandemic

Abstract

Abstract: This study, Ecuadorian Public High School Teachers´ Perceptions on Technological Resources used by Teachers in their English as a Foreign Language (EFL) Classrooms during the COVID-19 Pandemic, was conducted in order to analyze the technological resources used by teachers in their EFL classrooms during the COVID-19 pandemic, to determine the use of frequency of technological resources, and teachers´ perceptions about the use of said resources. The sample consisted of ten EFL teachers in different provinces like Pichincha, El Oro and Imbabura, in different cities like Quito, Tabacundo, Cayambe, Arenillas, Machala, and Ibarra. A mixed method combining quantitative and qualitative approaches were used. The instruments utilized were surveys, interviews, displays and tables using the Likert scale followed by a thorough analysis. The interview was the technique applied to ten EFL teachers in order to gather qualitative data, while the survey was applied to the same teachers to find answers through a quantitative approach. The results of the given surveys showed that teachers presented positive attitudes toward Information and Communication Technology (ICT) and the use of technological tools in EFL classrooms.
