Abstract

Abstract: Complementary currencies are an option for the exchange of goodsor services without the free circulation currency of a nation. Historically, this monetary system has emerged throughout history becauseof different economic crises where the scarcity of the official currency is evident. In this context, this research aims to propose a model of social currency as an alternative for the marketing of agricultural and livestock products of the Association of Producers of Benitez (ASOBENIC) of the Pelileo canton. To this end, a situational diagnosis of the association carried out through interviews with the technicians who train the farmers and members. The results show that the association currently has problems generating income and overproduction of agricultural products. For the model, the lack of access to technology and digital inexperience of the partners considered as a limitation, so a Local Exchange Trading System (LETS) model proposed, which adopted to the needs of ASOBENIC.
