Ecuadorian public high school teachers´ perceptions on technological resources used by teach in their EFL classrooms during the COVID-19 pandemic

Abstract

Abstract: Thepresentstudy, Ecuadorian public high school teachers perceptions on technological resources used by teach in their EFL classrooms during the COVID-19 pandemic, aims at investigating the technological resources used by EFL teachers, the frequency of technological resources used, and the teachers perceptions towards the use of technological resources. For investigating these aspects, a sample of 10 EFL teachers were chosen from educational institutions in Quito, Ecuador. The participants were asked to answer a survey to gather the data in relation to the technological resources and their frequency of use. In addition, the teachers were part of an interview for collecting qualitative data in relation to the three variables of the research. The study was conducted through a mixed method with qualitative and quantitative approaches. The results indicate that during the Covid-19 pandemic the EFL teaching, and learning process was developed principally through two online platforms: Zoom and Teams. Additionally, W hatsApp, YouTube, web pages, Power Point Presentations, virtual platforms, and online dictionaries were frequently used by teachers. On the other hand, the EFL teachers never used social networks for teaching.
